About Banu Kaptan
Banu Kaptan (born 1971) is a Swiss artist of Turkish origin, based in Geneva, where she has lived and worked since 2003.
Alongside her primary profession as a medical doctor, she has developed a deeply personal artistic practice rooted in material exploration and emotional expression.
Since 2017, her artworks have been exhibited in Switzerland and France, reflecting a journey where science, sensitivity and craftsmanship intersect.
Working with clay, metal and wood, Banu Kaptan transforms raw materials into expressive mixed-media pieces, giving them a new life through texture, balance and form. Each work carries traces of touch, time and transformation — forming a distinctive aesthetic language.
She is a proud member of Hermance’s Artists and Crafts (ArtHermance), actively contributing to the local artistic community on the shores of Lake Geneva.
